SADLY THE GOOD WORK OF SR JO & MERCY SISTERS HAS COME TO AN END.  YOU CAN READ FOR YOURSELF WHAT SR JO HAVE TO SAY.  SR JO HAS MADE HUGE DIFFERENCES ACROSS CANTERBURY AND BEYOND. I AND OTHERS HAVE BEEN THERE HOW SHE WORKED TIRELESSLY TO ACCOMODATE FOR THE MOST VULNERBLES IN SOCIETY, THE MOST NEED INDEED. WE HAVE BEEN THERE ALONGSIDE HER AND HAVE SEEN HOW SR JOE BUILD ST MARY' HOUSE FROM GROUND LEVEL.

I  RECEIVE  A  CHRISTMAS CARD FROM SR JOE! JUST  LIKE HUNDREDS OF SERVICE PROVIDERS AND OTHERS WHO WE HAVE STOOD TOGETHER TO MAKE DIFFERENCES TO THE LESS FORTUNATE.

SR JO'S CARD WAS SO MUCH DIFFERENT AND STOOD OUT FROM THE REST.  IT BROKE  MY HEART. I EMAILED SR JO HOW I FELT IN SUPPORT OF HER HARD WORK AND ITS CAUSE OF HER DUTY OF CARE TO THE COMMUNITY THAT DRASTICALLY COME TO THE END AND NOT BECAUSE SHE GAVE UP IT IS:  REFER TO HER  ARTICLE (TORCH) JULY 23 2009

Dear Sister Joe,

Thank you for your Christmas
card for 2009

It is sad that St Mary's House is closing down. The needy people across Canterbury will suffer and it will make it worse for those in need.

I am very disappointed, it seems that there are billions of dollars given away to a lot of the agencies by this current government. I can't see how St Mary's House did not have a cent out of it. I am confused, devastated and in tears IN ST MARY'S HOUSE CLOSING DOWN.  The 3 levels of Government have not come to rescue St Mary's House. It's really food for thought for more advocating and more telling the 3 levels of government that the needy and the vulnerables should be a no 1 priority. Well the NEW NSW PREMIER'S priority in her first speech to the public said that is one of her priority to look after those in needs..

Well Sister Jo you have done your best of your best to meet the needy and vulnerable a second chance in life. The PISSAM network, Canterbury Harmony group Inc.  and the IWATC acknowledged and appreciated that.  You see that! I see that! those who have supported your empowering services, see that! and sadly those who come to you as a last resort see that. Where they will go? Yes! to other service providers who do not even know them. I remember on Mondays, there is a lady who comes in just about lunch time, just to chat and have biscuits and a cuppa.  She said to me, Anne I look forward coming to see Sr Jo, this is my only family. She is on her own and she said that St Mary's House was the only place she felt at home. I just imagine the impact on her? Well it will not only her, I know hundreds and hundreds of people will be having the same filling. Putting them in misery, confused and their lost of hope where to turn to in time of need. It will put them them in more horrors as I have experience with a lot of Pacific Islanders CALD who have come to you in the past and whom we are supporting to give them opportunities that are available to them.

Let us pray, reflect and remember each other in fighting to make a difference to those in need.  The government and those in power should know that you do not have to have a title or in a powerful position to make a difference to those in need. All you need is to provide a service that will meet their need, end of the Story.  Response, Prevention, Action and to get an outcome are much much better than powerful words and more reviewing and more reviewing. The concrete evidence are there.

I have learn a lot from your patience, passion and guidance and it will be with me while I am working with my community.

Merry Christmas and have a prosperous new year

Love & Prayers
